If things are that bad

We're not counselors, and we're not a crisis line. But you shouldn't be on your own with this, and you don't have to be.

The Samaritans are there any time, day or night. Whatever you're carrying, however bad it is, you can ring them and somebody will listen. The call is free, and they're there all night. The number is 116 123.

If it's your health and you need help urgently but it isn't an emergency, NHS 111 is there day and night too.

If you're in immediate danger, call 999.

There's a longer list of places that can help — for money, housing, relationships and more — on our Getting more help page.

And when things are steadier, our chair is still here. Half an hour with somebody who listens, in confidence, at a time that suits you.
